7 tips for running an e-commerce shop
Before sealing the package: triple-check that you’ve put all the products in.
Before dispatching: triple-check the delivery address.
If you require the customer to input a phone number and you’ve noticed that a product is gone from stock or that the delivery address is not clear enough: just call the guy and ask for alternative products or address clarifications. You can do the same by email, although phone might be faster. But please: DON’T INVENT ADDRESSES.
If you provide an email as contact address, make sure you check it at least 2-3 times a day. Since you’re there, is also nice to reply to your (potential) customers. If not, make it clear that you’ll only answer to phone calls, letters, postcards or customer protection agency.
Show those goddamn prices with all the taxes included. In a supermarket all the prices are shown with VAT included. At McDonald’s too. Even at the small bar in the corner the coffee has the price with VAT added.
If you close for Holidays, remember to close your online shop too. Or at least don’t take any orders. Or tell me that you’re gone for 3 weeks (in Spain is very common for companies to close in August or to work at small capacity).
If you work with a delivery company that has tracking numbers for packages, would be nice to send me an email with that number so I’ll know where the thing is.
